Error (below) when trying to commit - either single file or entire

Error: 170001 (Authorization failed) Description: Commit failed
(details follow):
Error: 170001 (Authorization failed) Description: (null)
The SCM has been working fine for a couple of months but this error
appeared the other day.
I can browse the repository and check out.
I checked out another copy of the code and the same error arises.
I use /usr/bin/svnserve -d to serve up the repository to the LAN.
There is no explicit security on the repository.
If it works from the command line but not from within Xcode, then file
a bug, including as much information as you can about your Subversion
repository setup.
If you get the same error (error code) when you try committing from
the command line, then this is something that's gotten screwed up
about your Subversion repository. We may be able to help you with that
here, but it's not an Xcode issue.
