Has anybody else noticed that sometimes it appears that Xcode 3.0 is
deliberately trying to make it all but impossible to rename a file?
I click on the file name in the project window, it becomes an
editable selection, the entire file name is selected, and I start
typing. And if I ever slow down and pause more than like a 1/10th
of a second between keystrokes, it decides "hey, you're done". It
renames the file whatever has been types, and then goes back to
becoming an editable selection _selecting the entire file name_ again.
That sounds like a known problem where your editing session is being
interrupted by updates to the outline view triggered by background
activities. I think that you will find that you can work around the
problem by waiting with the rename until the Activity Viewer window
shows Xcode to be idle.
You should probably file a bug report regardless of if I think it's a
known problem or not. If you manage to grab a sample / Shark report
while reproducing this problem, that's probably useful information to
include with your case.
