Thank you for your lengthy answer. Especially the last sentence is
what I'm interested in. Browsing through the Trolltech mailing
lists for MacOSX and Qt, learns that XCode and Qt isn't a match
made in heaven. As my company builds multiplatform applications, I
would like to stick to the qmake && make method. This makes me
especially interested in those other ways. Do you know of a good
source of information for these kind of things? As far as I
understand there is a default layout where OSX is looking for, but
I can't find any info 'bout it.
I would really like to get it working, because we would like to
drop our Windows support in favour of Apple Mac OS X.
"make" not my area of expertise, I'm afraid. You may want to search
the xcode-users mailing list archive on "make" to see how other Mac
OS X developers are using that tool and what issues they've
encountered.
The "other ways to do it" I was referring to were other ways from
within Xcode itself, not using alternate tools. If you decide to use
Xcode, you may want to search the archives of the xcode-users
mailing list for things like "build locations". I'm pretty sure that
other people have tried to make Xcode work without using a single
default build location, usually for cross-platform C++ projects.
(Searching the list archives -- http://search.lists.apple.com/ -- is
always a good place to start when you have questions.)
Personally, I would also recommend continuing to use the xcode-users
mailing list for discussions like this one, instead of emailing
Apple developers directly. That way, if one Apple developer is too
busy to answer you again immediately, someone else may do so instead
-- and the answers will be available to the wider community.
Good luck,

Andrew,
I'm sorry for emailing you directly. I hit the "reply" button without
looking at the recipient address. Still getting used to the interface,
I guess (Got this MacBook only two days and frankly loving it.)
I'll start searching the apple mailinglists and also trying to get
Trolltech involved. Any solutions coming from Trolltech I'll post on
the mailinglist and on my blog.
Thank you so far. I'll try to get the qmake && make (standard linux
way :) ) combi working.
Kind Regards
