Interface builder won't open my window

Sometimes when I open a .nib file I haven't used in a while (in this
case two months) interface builder opens it up but won't let me see
the contents of the main window. I double click on it and it acts like
it's going to open it up for editing but nothing appears. Doing
"simulate interface" gives you nothing either. Building and running
the program in xcode does work however and I get my window. This
happened to me before some months ago with a different .nib file.
Logging out and in, restarting, trying a different user account and
deleting every preference and cache file I can find with interface
builder in the name have not fixed the problem. Has anyone else
experienced this or does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you,
