My guess is that things like <<“Viewing Search Results”>> <<Xcode Project
Management Guide>> are meant to be links. But they are not links. Perhaps
the docs were not run through some tool that's supposed to form these links?

That's not related to our doc production system. Most likely the writer was intending to replace that content with links, but didn't. I will file a bug on this.

A fast way to get fixes made on this kind of error is to use the feedback links at the bottom of each HTML page -- those go directly into our feedback/bug system, associated with the document in question, and issues like this are corrected quickly and usually turned around for our next monthly update.

I'm seeing stretches of the Xcode docs that look like this:

Targets. Contains the targets in your project. A target contains the
instructions for creating a software component or product. Targets are
described in more detail in <<Xcode Build System Guide>>.
Executables. Contains all the executables defined in your project.
Errors and Warnings. Lists the errors and warnings generated when you build.
This group is described further in “Viewing Errors and Warnings” <<Xcode Build
System Guide>>.
Find Results. Contains the results of any searches you perform in your
project. Each search creates an entry in this group. For more information on
the Find Results group, see <<“Viewing Search Results”>> <<Xcode Project
Management Guide>>.

If you're curious, that comes from http://developer.apple.com/documentation/DeveloperTools/Conceptual/XcodeWork space/100-The_Project_Window/chapter_3_section_2.html
