I have not found Xcode 3.1 to be very useable with Perforce either. I've had problems with Xcode/Perforce (hangs, crashes, etc) for as long as I've used Xcode, so I just work in "offline" mode. They fixed a really annoying problem that was present in Xcode 3.0 where I would check out a file in Perforce, but Xcode would still think the file was read-only.

Not trying to bag on Xcode 3.1. All-in-all, it's a nice product, but it would be nice to be able to use the SCM features with Perforce.

I find that Xcode 3.1 beachballs all the time. It seems to be related to
SCM operations that occur implicitly or periodically. If I go offline, the
beachballing goes away. My project is configured for a perforce repository.
I am using an old version of perforce server {Server version:
P4D/DARWIN60PPC/2005.1/82834 (2005/07/19)}, but when I when I use other
perforce clients, it's very fast.Is anyone using perforce with Xcode 3.1
without beachballing?

I have already reported the bug with shark profiles to apple.
