Can anyone confirm this issue with XCode and debugger - I have sometimes to 'work' in debugger for hours and it's responsiveness is important for me. May be it is XCode internal garbage collection?

I can't reproduce any problem running that code and stepping over a breakpoint every time through the loop on my machine (1:st generation MacBook Pro, Mac OS X 10.5.4, Xcode 3.1).

Can you reproduce using Xcode 3.1? If so, grab a CPU sample using Instruments / Shark / Activity Monitor and file a bug report:

Please also monitor your memory usage while you reproduce the problem. Paging?
