Smart group for "hot" files?

  • Subject: Smart group for "hot" files?

Hi,

I'm using the latest release of xcode, and I would really like a smart
group that shows the files that I've changed since a given date, sorted
alphabetically if possible. I'll call it a "hot files" group.

Essentially, when working on a particular bug or feature, I often find
myself going back and forward between a small handfull of files, which
are spread out across the whole project. So I spend a lot of time
navigating back to "that file I was in just a few minutes ago".

My workflow would then be:

Clear the hot-files group when starting work on a new bug or feature.

Initially find the files the normal way, make changes etc.

After a very short while the files I'm interested in would be neatly
selected in the hot-files group and I could close the other navigation
groups and concentrate on the "hot files" and "errors and warnings" groups.

I know about the history popup button at the top of the editor pane, but it:

Tracks all of the files I open, not just those that I actually change.

Is a very small pop-up button - not nearly as usable as using the all- in-one
project view with the navigation bar on the left, group files on top and
editor below. (my preferred layout :-)

Does anyone have a way of doing this besides using a smart folder in Finder,
or is there a way to create your own smart groups like this in xcode?

Thanks,

Steve
