We're thinking about getting Xcode somehow to access
a non supported version control system. Is anyone
aware of sample code or documentation which shows how
to write a plugin for Xcode which hooks into the events
necessary for SCM operations?
Unfortunately, this is still not supported. The only third party SCM
plugin I've been able to find is http://labs.seapine.com/wiki/index.php/Surround_SCM_Xcode_Support
, and it looks like theirs only worked until Xcode 2.4 (surprise,
surprise).
If you search the list archives, you'll find that it is something
that's been considered for a while. I get the impression that the Dev
tools team simply hasn't gotten around to it (higher priorities)
through the years. The Xcode 3 system seems to be abstracted somewhat
more cleanly, but still no public API.
I'm also hoping/waiting for official SCM plugin support for the DVCS
systems we use daily. Please file a feature request at
bugreport.apple.com to make your vote and your specific needs heard as
well.
thanks,
