Thanks for the responses from Tommy and David.
The tutorial and Hello World example that I was using are found at
ADC Home > Reference Library > Guides > Tools > Xcode > Xcode Quick Tour Guide > Creating a Project >
I am not sure how I found that document in the first place. By exploring just a little, I found that the Quick Tour Guide was written for Xcode Tools 2.2 “and later.” There is another document at
ADC Home > Reference Library > Guides > Tools > Xcode > Xcode User Guide >
And it was written for version 3. I will use that document now.
