There are actually two back buttons in the documentation viewer in
XCode 3.x.
The first is the one that you are using in the toolbar portion of the
window. The second is a small Back/Forward button in the lower split
pane where the actual text of the document is being displayed. It's
just below the splitter bar on the far left.
I have been bit by this myself and was stumped for a bit of time
before I realized that there was a second set of Back/Forward buttons.
