The Xcode 3.0 release notes has this to say on the subject:
"In Xcode 3.0, the Zero Link build setting is ignored and has no
effect. It still appears in the user interface and is preserved for
backwards compatibility with Xcode 2.5 and earlier, but all
executables are always fully linked in Xcode 3.0."
