xcodebuild 3.0 taking ages

  • Subject: xcodebuild 3.0 taking ages

Hi,

I'm building some very simple projects, the /Developer/Examples/IOKit/ FireWire projects. xcodebuild takes about two minutes to build any project. During most of this time, it's quite literally doing nothing - doesn't appear in Shark if I take a ten-second sample of all processes, if I sample just its process then Shark doesn't collect anything at all. The system is mainly idle, at least 95% of the time is spent in the kernel machine_idle. The process isn't blocked on a system call or anything, it's just sleeping.

After a couple of minutes, it suddenly wakes up, and does all the compilation. Any idea how I can chase the problem down?

Thanks,
Graham.
P.S. Intel core 2 duo iMac, 10.5.2 with Xcode 3.0.
