I use nm command, there is also no $UNIX2003 symbol in the libcomman.a.
Why the compiler search the libcomman.a for it?

Are you **really** sure about that? The 10.3 SDK doesn't include
UNIX2003 symbols; only the 10.5 SDK has that at this point.
