I don't think that's how you're suppose to use MallocDebug.  Have you
tried Run > Start with Performance Tool > MallocDebug?

I think Apple considers MallocDebug a dead product anyway, replaced by
Instruments.  MallocDebug doesn't support GC apps at all, for example.
