Determining which processes are utilizing the disk?

  • Subject: Determining which processes are utilizing the disk?

It's fairly easy to see which processes are consuming CPU and memory resources, but is there any way to tell what processes are causing disk activity? Sometimes my MBP will have long sustained flurries of disk activity, and it's not obvious what's causing it. However, it's so much I/O load that EVERYTHING else in the system slows to a crawl.

Do any of the tools break down I/O (HD) load by process?

TIA,
--
Rick
