Launch TextEdit
Open
in the dialogue choose "Ignore rich text commands"
select file
click open

But I can't get my gray-bearded copy of Xcode to
do that, or to retain line-ending or encoding
settings for RTF files (it happily says it's
"converting", but then, when I check it again,
it's still undefined).
