Annoying Document Window Behavior

Good morning!

Is there any way to force the Document window to remain visible and on top? I'm currently working through a tutorial book and flip between Preview and Interface Builder every few seconds. Whenever I go back to IB, I've got to redisplay the Document window. It's incredibly annoying.
