How do I go about to remove those - if possible?
You should be able to Get Info and do a "Show in Finder".
In any case, to delete them, you need to delete the doc sets from the
Finder. Xcode doesn't attempt to handle that, due to various
permissions issues with how we have to install them.

I would like to remove some of the documentation sets in the developer
documentation source list view [1], namely "Apple iPhone OS" and
"Apple iPhone OS 2.1" (since I can find all I need in the "Apple
iPhone OS 2.2" documentation set).
The context menu for those two documentation sets contains nothing but
disabled items, why it seems impossible to remove/hide them from the
view. Neither does the Xcode preferences [2] help me; if i un-check
the boxes for some documentation sets, they become checked again once
I restart Xcode.
How do I go about to remove those - if possible?
