I think this is gcc-4.2 and later, see
http://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/gcc-4.2.4/gcc/Diagnostic-Pragmas.html#Diagnostic-Pragmas

That's the kind of thing I'm talking about. It doesn't seem to be honored by the current version of gcc 4.0.1 that's installed with Xcode.
