I have tried the two workarounds, all with the same result.
XCode version: 3.1 (Component versions: Xcode IDE: 1099.0, Xcode Core: 1100.0, ToolSupport: 1086.0)
IB version: Version 3.1 (670)

I get the following error description when I start the IB by double clicking the added view (XIB file):

Assertion Message: Both arguments need to be absolute paths

By the way: Because the message is mentioning something about a absolute path, I changed the settings of the XIB file to absolute path, but it gave the same result.
Thanks for your help,
Peter
