Hello,
About 2 weeks ago, I installed Leopard and XCode 3.0 on a new HD in my
PowerMac G4. The old HD has 10.2 and I was using CodeWarrior 8.3 for
development. So, I am new to XCode and I am trying to update some of my
projects to build UBs with XCode.
The problem that I am having is that XCode 3.0 will not write the converted
CW projects to disk. Basically, I launch both XCode and CW 8.3. Then I
drag my CW project onto XCode (the Apple tutorial says to use the "Import
Project..." menu command but that no longer exists in Xcode 3). The Project
Importer wizard appears and I select my project and a name for the
.xcodeproj. I click "Finish" and everything runs smoothly -- I get a new
project window in XCode with all of my targets and files. Building this
project reveals only a handful of necessary code changes. However, no
.xcodeproj file is created on disk and when I try to close the project I get
a message about the project being "read-only" and something about SCM
settings. (I don't remember the exact message -- see below).
Now, the original CodeWarrior project and its directory of files were
checked out of CVS using MacCVS Pro. That program creates Projector
resources in the CVS files, so I tried removing that resource from the CW
project and reimporting but I still got the same result. There are also
invisible "CVS" folders in the directory but I did not want to remove all
files from version control, so I left those alone.
Last night, I upgraded to XCode 3.1.1 in the hopes of fixing this issue.
Now when I drag a CW project onto XCode, absolutely nothing at all happens.
No import wizard, no message -- it just appears to ignore the open event.
This is a discouraging turn of events to say the least :(
Does anyone know what is happening or have any suggestions for getting the
import to work completely? Would XCode 2.5 work? I may just try creating a
project from scratch today, but I had really hoped it would be easier than
that :)
Thanks!

PS. I did go through all of the steps recommended by the CW->XCode
transition guide prior to importing the project. Targets are Mach-O,
linking to system C library, etc.
