Hilariously, this is the topic of a bug that I recently wrote for Apple:
"Problem ID: 6092101 - Bug Reporter does not allow viewing of status
once marked as duplicate"
Their response?
"This bug has been closed as Duplicate. We are aware of and tracking
this issue under the Bug ID listed above in the bug State (Duplicate/
XXXX). To check the status of the original bug report, please send an
email to email@hidden referencing your Bug ID."
OH THE IRONY!
Based on date/bug number correlation™ the original bug (4251906) was
filed about 3 years ago -- sounds like Apple's not going to help us
soon.
Perhaps Apple should allow reporters to mark their bugs as "publicly
viewable," indicating that submitters of duplicates should be able to
see the publicly viewable bugs in the duplicate list. This would
sidestep any secrecy concerns Apple might have.
