Is /Developer/Library/version.plist what you want ?

Open the About Xcode box.
Chris already posted the 3.1.1 Component versions.
Component versions
Xcode IDE: 1115.0
Xcode Core: 1114.0
ToolSupport: 1102.0
You didn't answer my question. The build number for the iPhone SDK
isn't in the Xcode about box.

Various SDKs and platforms have version numbers and build numbers
also. How do I tell what the version/build number is for my
installed copy of something like the *p**n* SDK to know if I have
the latest version?

A recent stream discussed the latest Xcode version available. I
see that this latest version mentioned, release 9M2517, is
associated with the iPhone SDK. But, is this the same Xcode
version available through the regular Mac OS X Developer site?
Is there a difference between the two different release
distributions? Does the Mac OS X release have tools or
utilities not available through the iPhone distro and visa-versa?
The version of Xcode included with the iPhone SDK is identical to
the version released standalone at the same time. This has been
true throughout iPhone SDK development and we expect it to remain
so in the future.
The only additional Xcode functionality provided in the iPhone
SDK is that which is necessary for iPhone development, and no Mac
functionality is omitted.
