Annoying Dependency [re]checking when switching build configuration

I have a project which in turn is dependant on about 20 other projects. Whenever I switch build configurations, (from Debug to Release or vice versa), it does a full dependancy check the next time the target is built. (Takes about 5 minutes over all the sub-projects)

Surely it only needs to do this the first time a configuration is built after opening a project, not each time it is switched.

Is this expected?

Matt
