I have mistakenly pointed the finger at Safari 4 a while ago. Don't remember exactly where, but I think it was in a post in the iPhone Dev Forum.

One workaround that seems to alleviate this for me is to open he documentation window as soon as Xcode finishes launching. From then on everything just works smoothly.
