Here's an example of what I'm looking for:

-- this brings up View3 on the iPhone
-- activate Button3 on View3
-- this brings back View1 on the iPhone
-- activate Button4 on View1
-- this brings up View4 on the iPhone
A lot of that will be done by connecting targets and actions using
IB. If that doesn't make sense, you need to familiarize yourself
with target-action in Cocoa.
Google keywords:
cocoa fundamental
cocoa fundamental target action
You can find other material with these google keywords:
iphone tutorial
iphone tutorial ib
iphone tutorial interface builder
Notice the pattern in the above use of keywords: "fundamental" and
"tutorial" limit the search to fundamental principles, fundamental
operations, and tutorials. Another useful keyword is "example" or
"sample".
I recommend spending a little time with google to see how keywords
work. For example, contrast "fundamental cocoa" with "basic cocoa"
and "cocoa basic".
Finding information is one small step in learning. Learning how to
find information is one giant leap.
