I'm surprised that, as a software developer, your approach to feature prioritization seems to be: "if it can be conceived, it should have already been implemented" ;)

Well, the ability to jump to a definition without going being able to quickly go back is such a usability handicap (virtually every time you use it while writing code, the next thing you want to do is return to where you were typing, no?) that I agree that it is very surprising that both features were not added at the same time.
