I'm not trying to install on the device. I'm aware that with AppStore distribution profile, one can't load on device.

I'm trying to associate the profile with Xcode. For this, I go to Xcode->Window->Organizer and then I would press + sign in the "Provisioning" section. Selecting the profile now gives this error. In the pas, when I was on version 2.1, I didn't see this error. That time, once the profile is selected, it would appear in the "Provisioning" section list.

I just tried to drop the profile on the dock icon. It doesn't give any error but at the same time it won't add the profile in "Provisioning" section list. Once I press Build, I get error message saying a valid provisioning profile is required. I'm sure the profile is not invalid. Its the xcode denying to add it as a reference.

Thanks,
Atiq

But that's correct. The message implies that you're trying to put your App Store distribution profile on your iPod Touch. You can't do that. If you're trying to install on a device, you need to use an Ad Hoc or development provisioning profile. An App Store distribution profile is only used for builds that are uploaded to the store, not installed on your devices.

To just make Xcode aware of the profile, try dragging it to the Xcode icon in the dock. Do you see the same message then? If so, I'd unhook all your devices and repeat.

Hi,

I have been using Xcode iPhone SDK version 2.1 to publish apps on AppStore. Recently, I upgraded to version 2.2.1 and my distribution profile does not work. Following is the error message I see when I try to add the AppStore distribution profile to XCode organizer:

"This provisioning profile cannot be installed on this device."

"Please contact ADC to obtain a valid provisioning profile containing this device's UDID."

Here are the details of my environment:

Serial Number: 1A7476GXXXX (iPod Touch)
Identifier: 65cb1bd7cf0bef2ab291f5bf1528f092c06XXXXX
Software Version: 2.2.1 5H11
OS X Version: 10.5.6
SDK Version: 2.2.19m2621afinal

I have tried to install fresh versions of certificates and profiles several times but that does not help. Please advice. I have a number of apps waiting to be publish, so your quick help will be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks,
Atiq ul Hassan
