Xcode Debugger, run as root?

  • Subject: Xcode Debugger, run as root?

I have a Linux app which I have built on the Mac.  Now, I need to debug.  I have added the custom executable to Xcode, as described in a previous thread. http://osdir.com/ml/xcode-users/2009-06/msg00149.html
My program now exits saying "this program must be run with root permission." in the console window.  How can I get Xcode to run it with root permission? (I do have the root password.)

Also, I notice if I login to a shell as root and try to use "xed" to modify files owned by root, it won't let me save it.  Nano works though; what's wrong with how I am running xed?

Thanks,
Xochitl
