Hugh;
OK Yes, I do understand that a HFS+ file is a different kettle of fish
than a standard unix file...
It's the nomenclature that drives me nuts -- 'copy file resources'
coupled with 'preserve HFS' --> no Finder comment
Where are these behaviors documented?
Why is it so hard to find the information?
The Finder comments contain author; validator, and version information.
The files are of varying types and produced by different tools.
Ultimately these data values determine deployment destinations.
Do you have a specific suggestion?
Thanks for your time on this!!

IMHO, it's not a good idea to depend upon Finder comments to be
associated with a file. They are not part of the file, they are part
of the ".DS_Store" file in the same folder. They are saved by the
Finder, not the application that saved the file... if the Finder
happens to be the entity that copies the file.
The "Finder comments" are easily separated from the file, as you've
already seen.
What information did you want from/in the Finder comments? There are
probably a lot of better ways to associate information with a file.

And I was hopeful....
But no - the Finder comments are still MIA...
This kind of inconsistency just makes me feel yucky somewhere
inside...
Why does it have to be this way?
Copy a file... just copy the file...
Hummph

Folks;
I've noticed that the 'Copy Bundle Resources' strips off all
Finder comments.
Is there a means to prevent this from happening?
Try the "Preserve HFS Data" (COPYING_PRESERVES_HFS_DATA) build
setting.
