Immediately trying to revert a snapshot after it has been created as a side effect of re-factoring a class name reveals this error:

"Unable to change file attributes for “/var/folders/cY/ cYhZ8jEOH5im12e2PIo3ZE+++TI/-Tmp-/XcodeSnapshots/ ArchivedDirectories/TabBarX/2009-03-18 11:28:11 +0100/Resources/ en.lproj/MainWindow.xib”.

Trying to re-refactor the previous changes, which in turn attempts create another Snapshot, fails as well.

Any help?

This is a bug in some older versions of Xcode. What version do you happen to be using?

Thanks for the reply.

Guess, I'm using the current version:
Version 3.1.2
Component versions
Xcode IDE: 1149.0
Xcode Core: 1148.0
ToolSupport: 1102.0

(System Version: Mac OS X 10.5.6 (9G55), MacBook Pro)

Once this happens, the snapshot for that project is difficult from that point on, and you often have to remove it and create a new snapshot.
I removed it -- wasn't a big issue this time, fortunately.

You can recover the files in the snapshot manually by navigating to the given path in the Finder or Terminal and copying the file. I recommend using FileCompare or opendiff to make sure you have the changes you want:

opendiff “/var/folders/cY/cYhZ8jEOH5im12e2PIo3ZE+++TI/-Tmp-/ XcodeSnapshots/ArchivedDirectories/TabBarX/2009-03-18 11:28:11 +0100/ Resources/en.lproj/MainWindow.xib” "./ Resources.en.lproj.MainWindow.xib"
Ok, thanks.

Should I file a bug report?

Regards Andreas

Chris
