I'm not sure which popup menu you mean, but I think I found the setting.

If I go to the "mylib.dylib" linker entry under "mylibTests" and choose Get
Info, the resulting dialog tells me the path type is "Relative to Build
Product".

None of the options in that dialog can be changed. Furthermore the path and
full path text boxes have correct data... I don't see where XCode is getting
the bad path from.
