Hello,
I noticed that when adding a localization to Localizable.strings (Get Info
on strings file, General tab, click on "Add Localization") that the name of
the new localization menu is pre-populated with English, Japanese, French
and German. Are those preferred names? Or, are names like en.lproj,
jp.lproj, fr.lproj and de.lproj preferred?
Xcode reference:
<file:///Developer/Documentation/DocSets/com.apple.ADC_Reference_Library.Dev
eloperTools.docset/Contents/Resources/Documents/documentation/DeveloperTools
/Conceptual/XcodeProjectManagement/060-Localizing_Files/localizing.html>
I found a discussion from the Xcode-users list from Aug 10, 2008 titled
"Localizing files" where one person pointed out that the Xcode 3.1 release
notes - Known Issues section stated:
Xcode uses the older and deprecated locale naming convention
(³English.lproj²) for language locales. 5871463
So, I should use en.lproj rather than English.lproj?
Also, when one needs to add a region specific language string, for example,
English for Great Britain would it be en_GB.lproj?
Is this documented somewhere?
I found the following reference: "Language-Specific Project Directories"
section in "Internationalization Programming Topics" (BP International.pdf).
Thanks,
Chuck
