You're entitled to your opinion, but please acknowledge that this is a
matter of personal preference and not something that can be proven
true or false. Cocoa provides one behavior, you prefer another. Xcode
conforms to the system default behavior in this case. It is certainly
advantageous for us to behave in the same way as most other apps on
the system. We should have a good reason not to, and I don't see it in
this case.
This goofy 3.2 method is causing lost time by having to type much
longer search phrases to get the exact file, even though I could
previously type only a few letters to select it. If you care, please
submit a bug so Apple realizes this is dumb and wrong and puts the
old, correct method back. I already did (radar://7310112), and they
said it was correct. What's next, sorting file names based on how
many pixels the glyphs draw?
If you want to influence other people, I'd suggest you learn to cut
down on the hyperbole.
