I doubt that there is a chance you will see an updated Xcode in 10.5
1) What kind of projects can't you build in 10.6?
2) There is a workaround for the console problem, which works nicely: http://lists.apple.com/archives/Xcode-users/2008/Oct/msg00541.html

Would there be any hope to get a minor update of Xcode for Leopard
that would address this bug? Please?
