The problem is that Xcode in Leopard is still affected at this
time with the bug that is filling Console.app with hundreds of
warnings related to Garbage Collector (which makes printf
debugging less fun for one thing).
Would there be any hope to get a minor update of Xcode for Leopard
that would address this bug? Please?
This is actually a bug in a Leopard system framework, and is fixed
in Mac OS X 10.5.8.
Umm, no, it's not fixed in 10.5.8.
Chris was thinking of the system framework bug that caused the
documentation viewer to crash. That one was fixed in Mac OS X 10.5.8.
The bug in a Leopard system framework that causes the GC warnings on
console is not addressed in Mac OS X 10.5.8 or earlier, but is benign
(doesn’t represent a situation that will lead to a crash/leak).
Unfortunately there’s no way for Xcode or any other GC application to
work around it without resorting to hacks. It is, however, addressed
in Mac OS X 10.6.
