I've recreated the first clang error. png.h, from the png library, has the same problem. I wisely didn't retype it this time :) Compiles fine in gcc 4.0, throws "backslash and newline separated by space" under clang. I checked for control characters, and found none.

Here's the version I'm using (directly from the libpng site, but included just in case something messed with it):
