Part of my definition of a "correct compiler" is that it accepts all
syntactically-correct programs, and rejects all
syntactically-incorrect programs. The last time I checked, it was not
possible to create a correct C++ compiler because the language permits
undecidable statements.
(There are other reasons why it's not possible to create a correct C++
compiler. For example, the Turing-completeness of the template
metaprogramming language means that there are correct C++ programs
where compilation will never terminate.)
