No, a dual quad-core actually has 16 *virtual* cores or whatever Intel
calls them (hyperthreading? I dunno). I didn't not change anything
until it was suggested that I try setting the pref to a lower number.
The pref did not exist before that, so Xcode defaulted to the total
number of cores.
I haven't noticed GCC using more than about 120MB per process, for
small-to-medium-size files. I would imagine the RAM usage depends on
the complexity of the code and the number of headers; do you have a
huge precompiled header?
Probably. Huge compared to what a small project would have.
