The problem is the Info.plist file in Versions/A/Resources/Info.plist. For some strange reason, this Info.plist file contains incorrect information. If I fix this Info.plist, codesign completes without error.
If I find out differently, I'll re-post here. Otherwise, I may continue the discussion of the Info.plist mystery on email@hidden.
