Debugger woes: Previous frame inner to this frame

hello,

I can't step through my code because when I try I get

Previous frame inner to this frame (gdb could not unwind past this frame)

printed to the debug console. What could be the reason for that? The code is pretty ordinary ObjectiveC++, I do not get any errors or exceptions and the analyzer doesn't show any potential problems.
I use iOS 4.2 on an iPhone 4 and Xcode 3.2.5.
