finding libraries

  • Subject: finding libraries

Tiny question - I'm still pretty new to xcode.

I am unsure what LIBRARY_SEARCH_PATHS does. For example:

I just built a little program that linked against the ghostscript library in /opt/local/lib/libgs.dylib. (This was from a macports installation of ghostscript). I added a reference to this library directly in the build target. That worked great.

But this library is apparently identified (in the target) by its entire path, since I have nothing set in LIBRARY_SEARCH_PATHS.

So under what circumstances does LIBRARY_SEARCH_PATHS do something for you?
