Sharing a hint re: Your own templates in Xcode

  • Subject: Sharing a hint re: Your own templates in Xcode

Environment: Xcode 3.2.1 SL 10.6.2
For those of us who like to keep our own templates
(or modified versions of Apple's) we just setup the
appropriate directory structure in ~/Library.....

For example:
Users/pteeson/Library/Application Support/Developer/Shared/Xcode/.....
Under that Xcode directory you would then place others such as
File Templates, Project Templates, etc

For example under Project Templates
.../Application/Cocoa Application/Cocoa Application
						   /Cocoa Document-based Application
						   /Core Data Application
							......

Now when you want to create a new project you get your templates
along with Apples, including the pretty icons.

BUT I didn't get the the nice check boxes to choose a document based,
core data based or spotlight when I selected the Cocoa Application icon.

Weep no more - here is a solution. Copy the TemplateChooser.plist
from Apple's .../Cocoa Application folder into your own. Presto Changeo!

Of course maybe Apple will change Xcode so that it fails.
But until then it works for me. Enjoy.

Peter
