The only time I’ve seen this happen was on 10.5 after I installed a significantly newer version of SVN (via MacPorts). Unfortunately Xcode kept using the default one, and the two versions disagreed about data formats, so they couldn’t work with each other’s checkouts.

This shouldn’t be an issue on 10.6 though because the default SVN install is reasonably up-to-date so there’s not much need to install a custom one.
