Direct Dependencies

I have added three library projects to my app project.
I have added these targets as direct dependencies in the app project.

I was under the impression that this would add these lib to the link build phase ... it does not.

So, how do I specify a lib to be linked in such a way that when I change targets (debug<->release) the correct lib is linked.
