It has resolved problems for me in the past with unknown load commands on older soystems. And even if it is not enough to resolve this problem for you, it most definitely is always required when building for an older OS version on a newer OS (otherwise the linker is free to use all sorts of features that are only available on the current OS version, including load commands that weren't available earlier on).
