Title: A question about (what I think is) a simple xcode tool
Howdy all,

I am attempting to do some testing that requires me to reliably enable and disable file and folder attributes. I am attempting to use the xcode tool setfile and am not able to disable attributes that I have seemingly set. I have been looking up how to do this, and have not been able to find what I think is relaible information so far.

For example, to set the System (name locked) attribute on a file, I think I would use the call:

$ setfile –a S /myfolder/foo.txt

I guess my two questions at this point are:
  1. Do I need to logout and back in in order to see that attribute attached to this file with getfileinfo?
  2. How can I subsequently disable this attribute once it has been set?

Thanks for any and all feedback.

Regards,

Steve O’Sullivan
