Often I want to search one of Apple's "Programming Guide" documents for some given text. Note that programming guides are multiple pages (10, 20, or more) in the documentation. For example, today I want to search the "Core Data Programming Guide" for "metadata".
Using the search field at the top of the the Xcode (3.2.5) documentation viewer searches all documents in the library and thus may give too many results.
I've used three workarounds:
• Download the PDF of the Guide and search it using a PDF viewer.
• For Guides that are only a few pages, step through them in Xcode's documentation viewer and do a ⌘F search on each page.
• Do a search on the internet with the document title in quotes, the search term, and site:developer.apple.com
All of these seem pretty lame. Is there a better way, using Xcode's documentation viewer I hope?
Jerry
