The replacement code does not replace the same functionality and there is functionality that we are using that is not part of public API. I was disappointed at the time when I saw that the public API did not provide the functionality we needed.

Are you aware that in 10.4 that sample code basically became proper
public API?  See FSCopyObjectSync() in Files.h.
